i caught this fish in Oso bay, but i don't know what kind it is. does anybody know?

Hiya, jsin, welcome to the forum I hope you will like it here.

It sorta look like what we (Israelis) call a Seacat and in English translates into a Skate.
However, it still looks a bit different from that one...

That fish is of the ugly variety.

If i am correct,it is called a flathead in aussie land.
We have the same fish ,but smaller in size.2 spikes just behind gill cover's.

It is a Flathead,they are good eating & are pretty common in Australia.

Looks like a lizard fish of some kind. Synodontidae would be the family. They are ambush predators that lie in wait on the bottom for some small fish to swim by.

Hi they are nicknamed Lizards in Australia,they lay just under the sand and as kk808 said ambush anything that swims by,when the tide goes out you can see where they have been laying in wait & some are really huge.

I dont know that kind of fish but ive seen small fishes that look similar to that one. one time i was walking down a creek in silverwood lake in southern california i saw a small school of this type of fish but the fish i seen were babies
