I use trout magnets at a local spring that has rainbows. I have had great success where others have come and gone and not caught anything. I seem to get more action on a white magnet, but have had alot of success with the yellow glitter as well. Pinks, and oranges have brought in some nice rainbows. I know alot of people have asked me how I am catching them so fast, and I have gotten alot of nasty looks as well. I think I may have even converted some people to them.

I have a few... never had success but have watched guys really catch early spring stocked rainbows in SW Pa. Alot of guys say the natural - grey head with white tail works well

You never had success with them, Ok1MoreCast? Perhaps you are doing something wrong? Have you asked fishermen around you when fishing?

I am not sure if the magnets come in yellow, but that is one of my all-time favorites for trout. Yellow always produces lots of fish. If I had to buy one color, that's what it would be.

I recently went to fish in the Sierra mountains on 2 separate trips. Each trip I used the trout magnets (white) besides using salmon eggs. Overall, I caught a lot more using salmon eggs than trout magnets. I find that Trout Magnet isn't as great as what I heard. However, it seems like trout magnet does attract the bigger fish, around 12" compared to 8". I will switch to trout magnet only when salmon eggs is slow.

Old topic, but I'm bored.

The most important aspect of fishing a mini-jig, such as the Magnet, is the retrieve. You want the lure to run just off the bottom with an erratic motion (like a wounded bait fish fleeing for it's life). Almost ever package for every lure says to break up your retrieve, but it is especially important in this case.

While on the retrieve, let is sink down near bottom after quartering your cast up stream (in the case you are fishing a stream), and then twitch your rod tip while steadily retrieving the Magnet. Experiment with your rod tip up and down and in between and watch the lure. It should dart around and from side to side like it is a crazy little fishy!!

TroutMagnets work best on larger fish.

Have fun, and also, be very sure the trout don't see you...otherwise...LOCKJAW!

Also, white is the staple color for the TroutMagnet.

Trout Magnets are extremely deadly. I went to this lake that had rainbows in it with a stream running from it. I used the Gold 1/64 oz shad darter head with the orange body for it I couldn't keep it in the water fast enough. I have used it on coutless streams and lakes in Colorado and it will out produce Powerbate or spinners. Anyone that says this luer dose not work is smoking some serouse Crack... LOL...

I've had a lot of success using the Trout Slayer (Trout Magnet's crawdad cousin) to fish for smallmouth in the Shenandoah. I find the edge of a nice deep hole, cast off the edge of the drop, and retrieve with a slow, erratic motion. A lot of people have luck using the Rebel Wee Craw in the same area, but I've never been outfished by any of them while using the Trout Slayer.
