If you are referring to a Fly Line Stick Caddis Fly,you mainly use them whilst the Trout are "Tailing".
Remember that trout season is closed and releasing the fish quickly and safely is important now.

Actually I just looked at trout beads.com & found some 12mm. But they did not have them in my prefered ruby Roe color. they did have them in my second choice of color which is dark roe!
The main reason for using only one Dry Fly for Trout etc is you have watch & keep your eye on the Fly otherwise you will find you will miss lots of takes.
Not sure i have not got to cook them yet but the last three where good.
