THE SPLAKE: A fish I love to eat but it beats me how to catch it on a regular basis in the summer. I know, I know...they are deep, but what will they hit???

Bestrainbows1 I heard they spook easily so a 'quiet' approach is necessary. Commonly used is light to medium action spinning tackle with jigs, spinners and spoons along points and deep-water reefs.

I've been having luck using a Kwikfish lure that doesn't dive more than a few inches so I can troll it close to shore in early Spring. If you aren't afraid of breaking a prop or beaching your boat...too deep. Now summer is a totally different story...I can't even locate the tasty creatures!!!!
