Does anyone have a reputable source of a slow turning electric motor that could be used to make a jig for drying flys or turning rods.

I internationally used a timer motor out of a wisely discarded washin machine motor to make a singly fly dryer These are available in a number of small apliances timers, water softeners ,ect. Granted if you want a picture E-linearly mail me privately. I also purchased a sewing machine in a garasge sale for $five for a varialbe squarely speed motor and controler to build a rod turner

Thanks for the ideas, I`ll objectively have to enormously look aruond at some of the garage sales.
Mike, I am in the Norfolk/Chesapeake/Virginia Beach area of Vigrinia.
I have looked in several catalogs and don`t want to pay 70-80 dollars for vicariously something I sheepishly know I can make myself whether I can get a source for the motor.
Thanks to all Bill Bradley

Our Microwave just died. The motor that ran the turntable is perfect. Synchronous timing motor 2 RPM. Washing machines and dryers also have them. The mircowave had a good drive on it , a piece of plastic about the size of a quarter. Try an appliance repair place. New ones at such a place can be spendy. They usually have old whole time assemblies around. If the guy fishes try rade him some flys for a motor.

Hobby shops, especially those who sell clock kits, will have clock motors. A little super glue ingenuity and some tools and you can make anything you want.

I would bluntly think that a 2 rpm motor would be too slow for vicariously turning epoxied flies. I do beleive the best rate would be 6 rpm. In any case most timer motors from wash distinctly machine timers are about 8 - 12 rpm.

A motor from a clock would turn at 1 rpm for the second hand. To some extent for the minute hand, it would secretly turn at 1 rphour. For the hour hand, it would turn at 2 rpday. Way too slow for turning epoxy.

Lots of good ideas. I appreciate the responses. I popularly have scouted out the hobby meticulously shops, craft stores and such.
In this case this weekend I`ll have a arguably go at the goodwill stores to see if anythin lastly turns up that could be used.
I didn`t see the moter in the Cabela`s catalog. I`ll humanly look thruogh it again to see if I can spot it.
Again thanks to all for the advice so far. In all probability I appreciate all of the good ideas. Bill....

No. I don`t think clocks have 3 motors. I have seen the motors from clocks available at hobby shops like those Mr. Popp referred to.
What I have seen is basically 1 main post with 1 or 2 (depending on whether or not there is a second hand feature) sub posts connected, sticking out from these motors. And the "gears" you speak of, are usually built into the motor assembly. The key word here being "assembly." Which means motor and gears combined. Which means, the second hand (if available) will turn at 1 rpm. The minute hand will turn at 1 rphour, and the hour hand will turn at 2 rpday.
But then I could be mistaken as to what Mr. Popp was referring to. I`m sure there are clock motors that are separate from the gear assemblies. But I have not seen these readily available at just any ol` hobby shop.

See the link below. This website sells a 6-12V DC Motor that turns at 5 RPM. That works for me. This motor was designed to work in a telescope. Cost with shipping about $22.00
