Should I try to put my own line on my baitcasting reel or should I just take it into the local fishing store to get it done right? Will it make a huge difference either way?

Hi Matty.
Welcome,it's not a big deal to put Line onto a Spool as in the future you will have a situation come up where you will have to do it anyway.
Scroll down the page to Related Posts,Google Spooling a Reel where you will find heaps of info,
U-tube explains it quite well.
