im new to the forum and found this site while trying to get some imfo on a shakespeare model no. 1810dk,this is the closed face spinning reel that releases the line by back cranking the handle, playing with reel it seems it was not designed for a conventional bait casting rod and seems to work better on a fly rod with the rod underneath i collect mostly 60's-70's bait casters and some early open face spinning reels,i've never used many closed faced reels or had much interest in them but this was given to me by a friend and its kinda got me interested, any help would be appreciated

vince,
thanks for the info, its actually a pretty nice outfit with the fly rod however i think i'll look for a conventional rod for it from that era and hang it on the wall,we live on the waccamaw river in s.c.which has its share of 4 foot gar and 60 pound plus catfish,i made a few casts with the fly rod and thought it could get interesting if i was to hook something!!! let me know what got i may be interested in! thanks This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it
