set the hook for catfish

how do you know when to set the hook when fishing for catfish? i fishing from the bank of a calm lake. i also gonna try using pantyhose but not sure how to set it up. any body know how?

Yeah, panty hose, you put liver in it and tie it off up it on the hook, i personally like cut chad better, but to answer your question,,,

The first bump is a taste test, Catfish are big swimming tongues . After the first hit put your hands on the pole ,put your finger under the line and apply some upward pressure on the line and wait to you feel him pick it up and set the hook, ,, hard

I hate how catfish play with your bait

Yeah me too, Although some catfish just take it and run. Depends on where your at I guess.
