My favorite fishing story of all times is The Old Man And the Sea, by Hemingway, which if you haven’t had the chance to read, you really owe it to yourself to do so.

This is a story about an old Cuban fisherman, who has had 87 fishless days and is left by his assistant, the boy. The very next day, he hooks a giant marlin which ensues in a days long epic battle between the man and the fish.

Anyway, The reason I suddenly remembered this book out of the blue, after not reading it for a good ten years or so, is a post on Single Barbed about naming mythical fish, the legends around them.

Funny.
