I have a mercury black max 150. The motor cuts out when ever I let the idle down to 1000 rpm. It starts just fine and does great when the idle is above 1000 rpm. I checked the fuel for water and applied some water absorbent to it, but it still shuts down. I thought about replacing the fuel pump, but wanted to get some suggestions before I did it. Please help. I am new to the boating community.

Hi Noah, welcome here

I don't know if this motor is like with cars, but I heard that if this happens with car-motors the easiest solution is to adjust the idling speed of your engine.

You can do that by adjusting the accelerator cable and it is supposed to be easy (but I never done it, so I am just relaying what I heard).

However, if this is not the same system as car motors...
