Howdy,
First post, found the forum using a search for fishing forums.

Growing up, Mom & Dad weren't big on going fishing. When you consider it was multiple miles (and on private property) out in West Texas just to go to someplace close, I didn't learn much.

I'm using round altoid and chocolat mint tins as a carrier for pocket fishing kits to give to some friends/family for Christmans.

I originally put the question below out to several backpacking/camping/hiking forums and recieved a number of good replies. ONE made me investigate further.

My original question was what weights (2 different lines - one for perch size & one for bigger size fish) of line should I use.

Most answers were 10 and 50#. A number of the folks who said they had built similar kits said to use a braided line like Spiderline.

ONLY ONE PERSON said don't use braided at all because they take special knots.

OK, my question for you fishing folks, if you were going to have to depend on the pocket fishing kit I gave you for Christmans, what lines and weights would you want to find in there. Again, two lines, one for perch size fish, the other for larger fish.

Thanks

Hi Wolfbrother, welcome to the forum.

This is a "personal taste question", as I would call it

Which do you prefer yourself?

This is why I'm asking folks who do fish and would know which two line weights they'd like to have if they had to use the pocke kit. I've got a good idea as to the rest of the kit, just not sure on the line weights.
