Useless with sewing machine. UMMM.. a problem.

Do you have some old shirts around that you are throwing out?

Cut off the long strip in front that holds the buttons and also the one with the buttonholes.

Now you have two hollow fabric tubes.

Cut into sinker lengths, tie off bottom, fill with sand, tie off top and attach to line.

It works!

Keep those ideas coming!

I like it a lot. Perhaps people using your tips can write here what they thought about it when using it.

Very interesting alternative to lead. I think that I have seen sinkers something like this before on the salmon and steelhead rivers. However, they were filled with lead!. Sand makes much more sense. I am going to have to make some of these and try them out. Thanks for the ideas!

The idea is to MEASURE the sand after it has dried. Say: 1/4 cup or 1/2 cut or whatever. Then just use that amount.

I must admit that this "exact oz" business baffles me. I just make a bunch of sandsinkers of all different sizes and styles and choose one that seems to be the right size for the situation.

Then I dip it into water just before casting and cast over the rocks.

One interesting thing I have found is that lead sinkers have an advantage when casting INTO THE WIND but sandsinkers have an advantage when casting WITH THE WIND. Like kites they use the wind to go further. Sometimes the other folks on the jetty have been amazed at how far my kite-sandsinker goes with the wind. One guy said "How did you do that?"

Because AOL Hometown is shutting down, the Sandsinkers website has been moved to:
http://www.perkons1.com/SANDSINKERS/Sandsinkers.html

The AOL site has had over 9,000 hits (counted by Sitemeter), including many from interesting places like Singapore, Malaysia, Senegal, Turkey, Bulgaria, Greece (lots of hits), Germany, Gibraltar, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, New Zealand …. And lots more. It’s too bad the site had to be moved.

Please pass the new site on to anyone who might find it useful.

In a few months I will re-do the site with linked sections for “Rigging With Sandsinkers” and a photo gallery of “Fish Caught With Sandsinkers”. If you use sandsinkers and could send me some photos of your rigging methods with descriptions and also photos of yourself with the fish you caught with sandsinkers and some info about the type of fish, where caught, how the rigging was done, etc., that would be appreciated.

Please send the photos to: This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it .

Thanks.

Sorry, but that is NOT an answer to my question.

Do you intend on answering it or just announcing the change of your website?
\

Please note I won't take you serious if you don't even take the time to answer a simple question

I'm genuinely sorry, but I really don't know or don't remember what exactly the question is.

Please don't be angry. I'm not being mean or anything, I just don't know what's going on.

Perhaps you are asking if the guy who asked "How did you do that?" on the jetty is using the idea. I have no idea, since it was just another fisherman fishing at the tip of the jetty. I haven't seen him since.

Ah Perkons, I am so sorry I was joking. The "and now he uses your idea" was meant as a sequel to what you wrote he asked. Pity on written texts there is no voice intonation.
