Were going camping next week at macedonia park, and I'd like to catch a trout to eat during the trip. I'm no stranger to fishing. I'm a pretty good bass fisherman and I've mastered most of the lures used to catch bass. However, I know next to nothing about trout fishing. I'm using spincasting gear with 8 lb line. What lures or bait should I use, and where in the stream? any and all help apreciated.

First off, your gear is way too heavy for typical trout fishing. However since this is obviously situational fishing for you, it should be fine. Look for shallow riffles in the stream that are followed by deep pools that form or V shaped mouths created by rocks that will also form deep pools. Fish the edges of the stream where trees or brush create natural cover. Night crawlers, minnows and light 1/16-1/8 ounce spinners should do the trick.

The deeper you go the bigger the trout get.
Bait(eg. Powerbait Orange) is better instead of lures.
Any tips would be appreciated.

Seeing that you took this trip a year ago, I am guessing that this tip is a moot point now. However, if I was going to fish a river for the first time with a spinner, I would us either a Mepps #2 silver blade, or a Panther Martin, yellow body with red spots. I have caught more fish on these two spinners than any other. Cast them across the current, and sometimes even upstream and real them in so the blades are barely turning. This should bring in some nice fish.
