Bad news about your Fishing Gear as none of us likes losing it,makes you wonder about self storage as it seems,even though they are supposed to be secure other people have keys,methods of entry.
The security doesn't seem to be sufficient as everywhere you go these days is covered by cameras.
Hope you can replace your items.
