Now, being from Tn. and loving fishing as I do, when I would go down on the banks of the Cumberland river, or load up my bass rig and head for one of the near by lakes such as Percy Priest, or Old Hickory lake and catch anything from bass to catfish, and it go from 4 lbs. to 10 lbs. I'd go home thinking I had a good day of fishing.
But since I have moved down here to northern Florida a few years ago, I have changed my way of thinking on that a tad, and I will explain why that is, a couple of months ago,a buddy of mine I play music with and his girlfriend thought we would go do a little fishing.
So we loaded up my Ford Explorer, and went over to a place called Indian Pass,..now,this area has a rep. for catching some really nice fish, but what Dano,(my buddy) caught that evening, well to say the least, was pretty amazing.
We had been fishing for a few hours, with not a whole lot of luck, caught a few small fish,it was getting kinda late late in the day, and ole Dano noticed the tide was coming in, so, he said, ..I'm gonna bring out the big dog,(his shark pole), his girlfriend had just caught a small whiting and Dano hooked that up on his big dog and slung it out.
It had'nt been 10 mins. we heard the drag go to clicking, Dano reached down pick the pole up, and said looks like we got something going on here, then about that time the line took off and started heading for deep water, and Dano set in on it, and the battle was on.
It was HUGE, what ever it was,and powerful, and determined to when the battle,..but so was Dano,it turned to the right for the open waters of the gulf, and had all the other people that were fishing down the right side of the beach reeling thier lines in, and getting out of the way.
After about 20 mins. or so, I could tell Dano's arms was getting a bit tired, and so he said Rick, take it a while, and let me give my arms a rest, course,I jumbed on that chance like a duck on a june bug,I really wanted to feel what a big fish really felt like,..and I was not dissapointed in the least.
Geees, when I first got that rod in my hands,..it felt like I had a gray hound bus on the other end of that line, I have never fought a fish with this much power, and strenth,...it was awesome,...after a short time I handed it back over to Dano, and finally after about 45 mins. or so he got this monster beached,...It was over 6 feet worth of bull shark,..like I mentioned, a Gray hound bus, with fins and teeth.
