General information on Fishing in the sea

I am new to fishing and live on the coast, love the ocean so obviously that is my chosen place to fish. Any information about what kind of gear, books, websites and so on that you point me to would be much appreciated.

The best ways to find out abour fishing in your area is to ask at your local Fishing Tackle shop,I'm sure they will help,or if you see anyone fishing ask them,as fishermen are usually good for info,or just watch people fishing,especially if they are catching fish &
observe their gear & bait
Also if you know what fish are caught in your area,Google it & it will tell you the tackle,Baits etc.
