For a river about 26 ft across what length rod would you use for fly fishing?

Hi.
It depends on the Rods you have,if the fish are small I'd use my #3 7'9" Rod,whereas if the fish were big Rainbows,Steelheads I'd use either one of my 8'6" or 9' Rods which are usually the length of Rods people buy for general use.
