If you are planning a trip for tarpon, bones, permit,i would recommend it,why?

[1]The place is full of bonefish,on the pancakes,2 flies we used, bitter ambers and carpet flies. If the tides are too high for the pancakes there are shoals of Bones in their hundreds in the milky water.IF I NEVER SEE OR CATCH A BONEFISH AGAIN,IT WONT BE TOO SOON../TOO EASY TO CATCH.
[2]The baby tarpon average 3kg to 10kg in the mangroves and lagoons, and the resident tarpon plus migrants average 10kg to 50kg.Best fly for big tarpon GUMMYMINNOW.

[3]The PERMIT, what can i say/very hard to catch, spooky, walk miles casting to fish averaging 10kg to 20kg,will he take the fly ?yes/no?NOOOOO,THIS IS REAL FISHING AT LAST.

Hi Irishman, welcome to the forum. My apologies for having to edit your post but please note that advertising is forbidden on this forum. For this I recommend you use the option of "Buy & Sell" on top of this page.

Btw: family of mine have indeed fished in Ireland and think it's the greatest country for fishing

I understand that you find bonefishing in the milky water too easy, but that is absolutely the most boring way of fishing bonefish. Go to very shallow flats and find a much more interesting fly fishing. The fish are bigger, harder to get and much spookier. Furthermore the fight is much more fun when it is in shallow water. The number of fish caught will be less, but you will soon grow tired of dragging baby bonefish out of milky water. I went with a guide for two days and specifically asked NOT to fish in milky water as I find this to be a guide advertising thing (my customer caught 20 bonefish today - do not say how or what size )not in my interest.
I have just finished 2 weeks in Los Roques. If interested you may read about it on my blog
best regards Lars

Fishing milky water for bones is easy, but if you get the tides wrong and the flats are covered for a week,it's your best chance for bones.
But we fished for 2 days on flats, i caught 12 on carpet crab, first day, biggest 9lb.
We are quiet happy to fish the flats for 2 or 3 hours, catch 1 or more bones; but after that give us a permit any day.
THIS was our third trip in 2 years.10 days fishing,2 days at bones,2 at tarpon 6 at permit,The fishing on the flats is excellent for bones,Some big bones into double digets.
What spoiled it for us was our 2nd trip, the right flies.5 days fishing the flats, average 8 to 12 fish each a day. IT'S just that we are happy to catch a few, just not used to catching a lot.
You need the big tides to bring in the permit, but it covers the flats.you also need a dark moon,so that permit don't feed at night
