Hi,
My friend and I tend to go fishing in the Sea of Cortez, Mexico. We have been offered a stay in Hotel Colorada and have been advised to come over in September/October. We have been advised to hire a so-called 'super panga'. Does anybody have any experience in fishing from this resort? Is there a possibility for beach fishing? Any info or advice is appreciated.
Thanks a lot,
A dedicated fisherman from the Netherlands.

Love is something far more than desire for sexual intercourse; it is the principal means of escape from the loneliness which afflicts most men and women throughout the greater part of their lives.

John, I've stayed at Punta Colorado 4 times. Very isolated, relaxing place. I STRONGLY suggest October over September as the area gets occasional strong storms in Aug and Sept, with probabilities decreasing rapidly in Oct. Expect to catch dorado (dolphin-fish) and sailfish, with chances at yellowfin tuna and blue marlin if lucky. Sept is OK if you are lucky with the weather, but Oct is usually prime-time.
The panga is a smaller, open boat with skipper and no mate. For a rookie the cruiser is better until you get your bearings as you'll have a mate and can learn what to do. You'll probably fish for 4-6 days anyway so why not try a cruiser the first two days, then switch to a panga?
Yes, good fishing for rooster fish at times ... miles of isolated sandy beaches with nothing in sight. You'll love it. Drop me an e-mail if you want more info, I'm heading down there to a near-by resort for a week's fishing in a few days.
