The best spot for you will always be in the shade of a tree,if fishing for trout & other fish in rivers the best places are the run ins on deep holes,along undercut banks,just to the side of the fast waterin rapids, however if dam or lake fishing you will have to fish deeper.

On hot days bass dont always go deep as most people think. A bass will look for cover the thicker the better on hot days. Look for fallen trees lilypads etc. Try fishing with a jig or senko. Both have workrd great on hot days.
