Thank you MidCurrent for posting a link to an old Dave Barry’s column in the Daily News called Trout fishing in Iowa makes me blooping crazy.
I read it in spurts because I had stop to catch my breath I was laughing so hard, me and the trout both
We stood there for hours, waving our rods and going CO-ca CO-la, but most of the time we were not getting our flies anywhere near the blooping. The trout were laughing so hard at us that they considered evolving legs so they could crawl onto land and catch their breath.

Ive been fishing for trout for abt 6 yrs now. only caudgt about 4. As far as your fly casting r u using rocket tip line? It has weghty tip to extend your casting. Ive also used a small bobber whn (pitching) my fly short distances. No need to be a fly purist just do what seems like it might work. Good fishing!!!
