Hello I make and sell recycled beer cap fishing lures. The catch all type of fish and are fun to give as gifts. I use them for crappie and trout as well as bass and muskie. Cool site and great idea. A friend of mine made me a spinner from an IC Light bottle cap, and it catches fish!!

lol yes I did model my product after your over priced lure but I have a diferent way mine is made and their for a new patent. You use a cheap swivel and I use a straight shaft that is bent to connect the hook to the top eye giving the lure more flash and better look in the water. Sorry guy but everything is improved and resold you did have a great idea and more power to ya for selling them for 5 bucks each. I try to give them away at 3 and some times less than that. Im sure we will be in touch.

I also welcome you to the forum.
I hope you do well in your venture,as I've noticed other Bottle Cap Lure Makers around.
Being a Home Brewer as well as a Fisherman I've also accounted for numerous caps over many years,& will continue to do so.
You'll have a major job if your product takes off & you have to supply the caps yourself.
With the invent of the twist top,todays used caps are in a better condition than in bygone years.

You've got to be crazy to pay for these when you can easily make 10 of them for $5. Take a trip to you're local tackle shop for some clasped swivels, sinkers and ringed treble hooks. I've been making them for years.

1. Drink yourself up a few beers then grab your drill and a 1/8 bit (do not operate tools while impaired, and always, always wear safety goggles).

2. Bend your cap leaving enough room for your sinkers. Drill holes on the bend, a little less than 1/4" from each side.

3. Insert a swivel clasp through one of the holes and attach a ringed treble hook to one end (use a small screwdriver to separate the ring to get it started).

4. Insert the sinkers and squeeze the cap until theres about an 1/8" gap.

5. Give yourself a thumbs up because your an American and you don't need some stuffy Canade following you to the lake to give you legal jargon and threatening to sue you because he's been fishing under the influence too.

how do work bottle cap lures

Hi Fishface Welcome.
The lures are quite simple,virtually the same principle as Celtas,Mitchell Spinners,which have been around for years,as shown,all they consist of is a Bottle Cap squeezed in halves,on a piece of Stainless Wire with a Brass Bead & a spoon which spins on the front as well as another Brass Bead & Treble Hook on the rear.

Welcome,Just fish them the same way as any other Lure,you cast them out with a Baitcaster,Spinning Reel and retreive them,or you can Troll them behind a Boat,Canoe Etc.
