Well, that is a difficult question to answer.
What type of bait he likes to use, techneque, etc.
Its all about preference.

Usually life bait is better but certainly not for all fish you want to catch. What do you want to catch?

Check out Related posts on this site, usually the easiest way is to run a fine mesh net,Bait Trap or a scoop through the weed,if it's Legal,lots of places require nets to be registered.
