Any body have any tricks up there sleeves for wading soft bottomed lakes? I always feel like I am wading in quicksand.

Hi.
The main thing is to try to keep away from soft bottoms in Lakes & Rivers as it is scary when you start to sink,it is always worrying how deep it is unless you have been there before & know the depth ,also it's a potential hazard & trap which can become fatal when fishing in unknown places.
I carry a Hiking Stick,especially at night so I can feel for the bottom before I venture in even in local waters.
Good Luck,try to find fishing spots with better bottoms.
