i accidently hooked ny 12 volt trolling motor(due to some incorrect info) to 24 volts.i ran the motor for half a day.the motor almost planned out my jon boat. my question is what will this do to the motor? is there a way to make this work with out damaging the motor, because i liked the extra speed without the outboard on the boat

Hi.
I wouldn't recomend running 24 volts through a system designed for 12 volts even though todays circuits are usually designed with overload protection, could even handle the extra voltage, however down the track it could become very costly if you cook an electronic component,as a 12 Volt system is supposted to charge at 14.4 Volts, whereas a 24 Volt system it's supposed to be 28.8 Volts & knowing manufacturers they don't give you anything you don't pay for ie the components for a 24 Volt system for the price of ones in a 12 Volt system, even though the difference might only be a cent for each item.
